Rapture

The Birth

Rapture was one of the most musically talented funk bands of the late 1970s, performing for sold-out crowds and loyal fans across the United States. Music reviewers and industry insiders were buzzing that this eight-man band from Indianapolis, IN, was the next chart-topping band of the era. Each member had the ability to sing, play an instrument, dance and give an electrifying performance. In 1976, Rapture was signed to a production deal with Earth, Wind & Fire, giving them a chance to nationally release their first album "Happy Days." The band traveled to California that summer with dreams of sharing their music with the world.

The Burial

A series of overwhelming trials would test the band over the next six months, including mismanagement, internal rifts, and dwindling financial resources. Their projects were shelved and the band returned to Indianapolis in Fall of 1977, leaving a classic catalog of never released songs. A mix up of the members kept Rapture performing for another two years before apathy would yet again derail this promising band´s career.

The Resurrection

Simple Life Records has partnered with Rapture´s founder, Rodney Stepp, to bring this rare collection of music to the world. Known for there elaborate performances including six custom costume changes, energetic crowd participation, and special lighting effects, Rapture´s creativity, swagger and classic sound are resurrected in 2009. "We are like decedents from the heavens coming to your world to sing a message to you about love, life, peace, and understanding. We were born into your world to carry out this mission; therefore, we cannot die before our mission is completed... So remember this: When you see a great ball of fire coming from the skies, and flames begin to surround you, do not be afraid. It is just a message from the gods and our way of saying: "Rapture is -- On the Way to the World"
