P.B.C.

P.B.C is a hip-hop partnership fronted by Ryan Benson (a.k.a. RyanKeif) and Derrik Stewart (a.k.a N.U.T). The duo have gained a ”must-see” reputation by entertaining their way around colleges, clubs and private parties with energetic performances and engaging personalities. Repping Indiana by way of Arkansas and California, these confident emcees are gaining attention for their mature lyrical content and playful swagger.

RyanKeif and N.U.T. have been performing as a duo since 2005, but started rapping as part of a larger clique in high school. As they continued to develop lyrically and professionally, their natural writing and performing talents distinguished them and they became the main voices of PlayBoy Clik. P.B.C. started self-marketing their music and regularly booking clubs around the state. RyanKeif’s smooth demeanor combined with the firecracker personality of N.U.T. always keeps the show interesting.

The group released its first independent mixtape in 2005, titled “P.B.C. The Underground Volume 1”. In 2008 they reached out to entertainment entrepreneur Kareem Lee, whose altar ego DJ KayEll produced the group's most recent mixtape “We Ready.” They have also worked with Simple Life on other mixtapes including “Simple Life: the Remixes Volume 1”, and “Simple Life: the Ladies Night Volume 2”. Impressed by the duo's commercially-appealing lyrical style and professional street image, Kareem signed P.B.C. to Simple Life Records under a four-album contract.

Everything in our music is about real life,” RyanKeif explains. “It’s about stuff we have done, are doing, have learned from, and just the different experiences of life. We like to think that we have something for everybody.” Diverse lyrics combined with their emblematic blend of southern rap, R&B and G-funk rhythms makes P.B.C.’s sound “Straight-up gangster!” as N.U.T. describes it... and RyanKieif adds, “It’s southern charm plus urban swagger. That’s what equals P.B.C.”

P.B.C. recently wrapped production on the Simple Life Records mixtape “Droppin Bombs”, available online in March 2010. They are also working on the mixtape project “AwwReady” while preparing for the release of their Untitled debut album.
