_____ Ashlee Mills is a pop/R&B singer and songwriter known for her girl-next-door charm and passion-filled vocals. As a young girl she always aspired to be a singer – showcasing her voice at local shows and family gettogethers. Her talents were publicly recognized and she was selected to join the prestigious Indianapolis Children’s Choir, which she performed with from ages 11-18. She continued to hone her vocals performing in gospel choir, musicals and plays. Ashlee eventually began writing her own songs, giving voice to experiences that resonate universally among young women. She writes about love, female empowerment, and playfulness, reminiscent of Pink, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion – her major musical influences. Adopting the stage name Abri, she began vocal training with mentor Rodney Stepp who helped her discover a soulful depth and range within her classically-trained voice. As she began to write and perform her songs, Rodney realized Abri's music had a broader appeal beyond teens because of the maturity and honesty of her lyrics. Her soft and soulful voice add star power to catchy ballads, across pop and R&B genres. Abri’s dream is to turn her passion into a career, and in 2010, she joined the Simple Life Records roster as the label's first female pop artist. Abri is currently recording her debut album on Simple Life Records, with the help of her production team, Rodney Stepp and Joon Walker. The untitled album is expected for release in Spring 2011.
